The Imagineer team said, “The familiar whistles of steam engines are complemented by evocative new sounds and voices.” with fresh commentary and stories.”
The history of the Walt Disney World Railroad is intertwined with the life of Walt Disney. In 1928, Walt had the idea for Mickey Mouse while traveling by train back to Los Angeles from a shocking conference in New York. Walt also built his own model railroad in 1/8th scale, which later inspired and helped create his 1955 opening day train engine at Disneyland.
The Magic Kingdom railroad stops at Storybook Circus on Main Street USA, Frontierland and Fantasyland.
The Walt Disney World Railroad has closed as Imagineers rerouted its trains for the construction of another type of train, the Tron Lightcycle Power Run, scheduled for 2023.
