It’s still November, but some neighborhoods are ready to spice things up with Christmas-themed art exhibitions, Christmas festivals, Christmas cabarets, and Christmas movie marathons in parks.
It’s not festive, but there are fun food trucks and ride shows, live music and dance performances, familiar pop culture-themed bite-and-paint sessions, and a car show to keep you busy.

In honor of his father, Roy Orbison’s eldest son, Wesley, stage this special concert starring John Stephens. He performs all of Roy’s Classics his hits, including 15 international number 1 hits, and pays special tribute to Glen Campbell, John his Denver, Gene his Pitney. The show will also feature Wesley’s spoken word, along with a very personal story about Roy’s intriguing yet tragic life.

Pictures and Popcorn is a Christmas-themed event featuring three consecutive Christmas classics under the stars.Movies include Polar Express (1 p.m.), how the grinch stole christmas (3pm) and holiday (7 pm). You can also buy popcorn and lots of food to buy snacks while watching from Eat Street, as well as a kids zone, live entertainment and more.

Gandalu Community Christmas Festival

The festival allows local community groups such as Scouts, Historical Society, Film Society, Gundaloo Common, Literary Society and Men’s Shed to share information about their activities. Small local businesses sell a variety of products including food, crafts and plants. There will also be a weed identification display from the Yas Valley Council and first aid information sessions and demonstrations from the local RFS. Crafts and clay activities for kids and music by local musicians and schools round it all out.

The iconic Bubble O’ Bill ice cream comes to life (on canvas) in this delightful pop culture Pinot and Picasso session. Anyone over the age of 7 can participate. Your ticket includes a 16′ x 20′ blank canvas, acrylic paints, brushes, table easel, Pinot and Picasso aprons, drinking glassware, and artist guidance to ensure you take home a piece you’ll be proud of .

Mobile live event production company Sam’s Caravan is a great showcase for local talent. Benji and the Saltwater Sound System will perform and showcase some of his best hits, combining Pacific flavors with the sounds of Australia’s Pacific coast. The Robin Martin Band captivates audiences with his rock-and-roll music, which is uniquely Australian grunge and unstrung.

The event showcases Christmas-themed works by local artists Emily Burks, Julie Bradley, Fiona Vauxhall, Liz Fowle, Fenja T. Ringle, and Joan McKay. Each artist is asked to make a connection through color, shape, texture, technique, or the sense that Christmas evokes in them, and the results are a must-see. Admission is free, but reservations are required.
