Debuting today at Disney California Adventure Park during Disney’s 100th anniversary celebrations at Disneyland Resort, World of Color – ONE Contains some heroic characters. During the nighttime spectacle, World of Color-ONE tells a powerful story of how his single action, like a drop of water, creates ripples that grow into waves of change. Along with dozens of other iconic Disney his characters, including Captain America, Black Widow, Black Panther, Hawkeye and Spider-Man, Paradise brings his bay to life. , the fog and fire effects match the familiar Avengers theme across the night sky.
It runs every night (weather permitting!) right near the Avengers campus. In celebration of the new show, Disney Live Entertainment Producer Jennifer Magill spoke about bringing the Avengers to World of Color — ONE.
This is the first time the Avengers have appeared in the nighttime spectacle. What is it like to see things come to life like never before, especially in this World of Color setting?
I’m a huge Avengers fan and was super excited to have them in the nighttime spectacle. The way World of Color – ONE tells stories is perfect for The Avengers and brings those moments to life in a way only Avengers can.
Where do you start when incorporating these superheroes into World of Color? Should you include specific characters, emotions, or specific moments?
For World of Color – ONE, the Avengers were a natural fit for the story we were telling. The overall concept of “Avengers Assemble” is, in some ways, the essence of the show’s themes. One drop makes a ripple, and the power of many drops makes a wave of change.
The Avengers now spans 30 different films, so how can you include the most iconic moments in one segment?
It was no small challenge. When the team was reviewing the Avenger movie catalog, there were many passionate discussions about favorite moments and characters.
This segment is inspired by both end credits. black panther When HawkeyeCan you talk about your influence there and how you adapted to World of Color?
For heroes as dynamic as the Avengers, we really wanted a fun and unique way to bring them to life. Along our journey, the team began reviewing some of his end credits. Because the end credits always add a unique and fun twist to the movie. When I saw Black Panther and Hawkeye, I was thrilled to see how it translates into ‘World of Color – ONE’. As soon as I tested it, I knew this was the way to go.
Do you have a favorite moment?
Oh this is a tough question! There are a lot of poignant moments while watching the show. One thing that always gives me goosebumps is when Sam Wilson says “On your left” at the beginning of the Avengers sequence. It’s a very simple line, but it really conveys the spirit of the show.
From the teased preview, it looks like the Avengers will be shown through a portal. Avengers: EndgameIt’s a very moving moment in the movie, and it will definitely be one in World of Color. What is it like to bring this moment to your park guests, especially given the immersion you feel when watching a show?
When I was thinking about how to introduce the Avengers section, I quickly realized that portals are very iconic entrances and ones that can be completely transformed into our world. Our design team really enjoyed using lighting, lasers, and fountains in new ways to showcase our Avenger heroes. After years of working on World of Color, I’m still amazed at the creativity and passion the team brings to life new stories in new ways.
