Walt Disney World Resort has more than 30 resort hotels, from campgrounds to luxury villas. The Walt Disney Company operates most of them, but a small portion of the resort hotels are owned and operated by third parties.

A recent Disney Parks guest stayed at the Hilton Orlando Lake Buena Vista, considered a “deluxe” lodging option at the Walt Disney World Resort.

Guests were working remotely in the middle of the night when the power went out in their hotel room. Demi shared a video of her own experience on her own TikTok @magicalhijinx.

“I used my cell phone to call the front desk and they told me, ‘I told you it would happen,'” Demi said. “Hmm, they didn’t. They informed me it was a scheduled power outage for maintenance.”

“After doing some research, I found that this is actually something that happens once or twice a year and can happen throughout the Reedy Creek area. So basically Disney “And it happened on an actual Disney property.”

Demi understood the need for planned maintenance, but was frustrated that the front desk didn’t let her know.

“Again, the problem is that I wasn’t informed. This could be dangerous,” she said.
In a YouTube video, Demi explained she was primarily concerned about guests who may have medical equipment and who could be endangered by power outages.
“Let’s say you’re using a CPAP machine, or a medication that requires refrigeration and requires electricity. Resorts are supposed to provide services for what to do in an emergency,” Demi explained. . “That’s what should happen. Thankfully I was fine. Obviously, it only affected my job.”

“Unfortunately, I was a really late guest and I think the staff inadvertently forgot to tell me about it,” said Demi. I didn’t know, and that’s why it wasn’t posted on the website beforehand.”

Demi contacted Hilton’s corporate hotline and was contacted by the Hilton Orlando Lake Buena Vista. She reports that they were incredibly apologetic and refunded the resort fee and her Wi-Fi fee.

“It wasn’t the best situation, but they got it right,” said Demi. “If you need electricity all night, especially someone with CPAP or medication, double check now.”
