A pretty underwhelming ride that ends in just a week.

Last year, we learned that one of Walt Disney World’s most controversial attractions, the Cali River Rapids, was closing for renovations. The rides can be found at Disney’s Animal Kingdom and are meant to get guests soaking wet.
Rides will be closed on January 9, 2023 with no reopening date at this time.

Believe me, it’s not just a more intense Splash Mountain. You may end your ride like you jumped into a pool. Thankfully, Disney’s Animal Kingdom has a great selection of other rides and attractions, including Expedition Everest, DINOSAUR, and of course Avatar Flight of Passage.
For many people, this ride is a fun adventure, for others it’s a miserable experience of getting soaked all day. Good. I constantly see people avoiding this attraction while looking forward to cooling off on a hot and humid Florida day.
The main reason many guests choose not to ride this attraction is the risk of getting soaked and the actual shortness of the entire experience. Ten minutes may sound like a long time, but if you spend most of your time climbing Rift Her Hill, Cali Her River Her Rapids can become quite overwhelming.

Disney gives guests considerable warning before entering a ride. It is written “It can also get soaking wet. Guests who want to stay dry are encouraged to bring waterproof ponchos, extra clothing, or towels to dry off.”
Thankfully, guests can use lockers to keep their personal items safe and dry.
