FORT MYERS, Fla. (WFLA) — Lee County lawmakers reunited the dog with its owner Thursday after the owner’s former nanny allegedly stole the dog.
A dog named Lady was returned to its owner the day after it was stolen.
Lady was reported missing on January 25, police said, after the owner suspected the family’s longtime nanny, Eileen Schultz, had stolen the dog.
The owner said Schultz was fired earlier in the day.
Detectives found Schultz at a Fort Myers hotel. She told her agent that she didn’t take the dog with her, but she changed her story when she said she saw a hotel employee with Lady. rice field.
Schultz then told the detectives that he took Lady to a hotel, but changed his mind and wanted to return the dog to his family.
However, a representative said that instead of returning the dog to the house, Schultz dropped it off in the area of Penzance Boulevard and Caisson Lane.
A lieutenant and a detective worked together to search the area overnight, looking for Lady.
On January 26, detectives found Lady at a home in the Danforth Lakes community. They said a resident found Lady and took her in for the night.
Agents and detectives said they have reunited the owner and Lady, who are grateful for the search and return of their beloved pet.
Schultz was arrested and put in prison.
