Steven Munoz Espinoza of Delray Beach, Fla., may have expressed frustration after a stranger jumped in front of him in line for a lottery ticket machine at a Publix grocery store. I have. Instead, his restraint won him the ticket of a lifetime.
“It was the end of a long day and I was tired,” the 43-year-old said of the moment before recalling meeting a stranger, according to a Florida Lottery press release. So I decided to buy the ticket at the counter instead.”
Ultimately, Munoz Espinoza’s cool mind triumphed in the form of a million dollar 500X THE CASH scratch-off game.
According to the Florida Lottery, Munoz Espinoza claimed the prize at lottery headquarters in Tallahassee on January 25 and chose to receive the prize as a one-time lump sum payment of $820,000. He and his wife said they plan to use the money to buy a home for his family.
“I can’t believe I won a million dollars!” Munoz Espinoza said of his big win.
Munoz Espinoza’s lucky purchase is also good news for the grocery store where he bought it. Delray Beach Publix location, he receives a bonus commission of $2,000 for ticket sales.
