The Karnataka government is planning to open surfing schools on Sasihitoll and Thanilbabi beaches near Mangaluru. His JLR resort on Sasihithlu Beach has 10 of his cottages slated.
Jungle Lodges and Resorts (JLR) plans to open two more properties in the coastal and North Karnataka regions in 2024. These facilities will be built at Sasihisur beach near Mangaluru and Chinchori in Karaburgi district. Officials say water sports will be the main attraction at both locations.
JLR has 27 properties in Karnataka and is known for its luxurious rooms and activity driven itineraries.
The resort on Sasihitl Beach has 10 cottages and Chinchori will have more than 20 rooms. Currently, JLR owns only one property in Bidar, North Karnataka.
JLR has a reputation for high tariffs, which authorities attribute to safari-based itineraries. Fees include entrance fees to the forest, naturalists, drivers and other human resource costs. However, at the new facility, JLR will also offer guest-only activities.
“Sasihitl Beach hosts a surfing school along with a resort that offers activities exclusively for guests. Chinchori also offers trekking and water sports near the Chandrampalli Dam, along with a wolf sanctuary. Guests can also be taken to a small tree park that belongs to the Forest Department,” said Manoj Kumar, Managing Director of JLR.
JLR recently acquired a 21-room property in Kemannugundi from the horticulture sector. This facility reports his 96% occupancy rate. JLR is renovating the property. Apart from increasing the total number of rooms to 40, we will also massively promote the trek to Hebbe Falls and Z Point. The resort has the advantage of being the only such property in the area.
“We have identified a few other properties, but we do not make that much money to develop them. We would like to acquire it,” added Manoj Kumar.
