The Kings Highway was closed east of Bunendore on Sunday afternoon, October 2, after a fatal accident occurred on a busy route.
The accident occurred at approximately 3:23 pm near Harrowfield Drive, east of Vangendoll. On the main transport link between Canberra and the coast he had two cars collide, the driver of one car was killed at the scene and another was trapped.
Passengers were freed from wreckage and airlifted to Canberra Hospital.
An investigation into the circumstances of the incident has been initiated, but no further information is available at this time.
Motorists have been told to avoid the area as significant delays are expected along the Kings Highway.
Traffic slowed down after the accident, but a detour has now been put in place.

Eastbound traffic takes Tarago Road, Vangandor Road, Goulburn Street to Tarago, then Braidwood Road, Goulburn Road and diverts to King’s Highway.
Westbound traffic diverts to Tarago via Goulburn Rd and Braidwood Rd, then diverts to Bunendore via Goulburn St, Bunendore Rd, and Tarago Rd.
This route will add approximately 20 minutes to your journey.
