Over the past few days, the entire United States has been battling what weather experts call a “bomb cyclone,” a rapidly deepening extratropical cyclone. A massive bomb cyclone brought record low temperatures to traditionally warm regions, temperatures with wind chills of minus 60 degrees to northern regions, and massive blizzards to the northeast. The Sunshine State has not escaped the wrath of the weather gods, and Florida has its coldest temperatures in decades.

People who visit the Walt Disney World Resort are used to sunshine and warm temperatures. Even in winter, a sweatshirt is usually enough to keep you warm on those rare cold days. But over the past few days, temperatures in Central Florida have dropped into the 30s, dangerously close to freezing, and even dipping below freezing in parts of the state. As a result, both Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando Resort have been forced to close several highly popular theme parks.
