McDonald’s Happy Meals are a children’s dream come true. A small cardboard lunch box contains everything parents need to keep their kids happy and full.
Children who get their favorite food and a surprise toy at the same time work in parents’ favor as a way to help get kids through lunch or dinner before playing with toys.
Happy Meals has always included toys since its launch in 1979. (MCD) – Get Free Report Customers have been collecting Happy Meal toys for decades as the toys available have changed. McDonald’s has made numerous collaborations to provide customers with a variety of toys.
McDonald’s Happy Meals feature a variety of themed toys including Bugs Bunny and Friends, Pokemon, Minions, DC Super Heroes, Furby, Mario Bros., Barbie, Hot Wheels and NFL, just to name a few. If someone has a complete collection of toys, it can be quite lucrative. A missing piece in a collection can determine the success or failure of a collector.
Happy eating isn’t just for kids
Luckily, McDonald’s didn’t jump on the bandwagon to put an age limit on who can eat Happy Meals. There is a Facebook collectors group where you can comment on collections and make deals to help other collectors build theirs.
But, according to Reader’s Digest, McDonald’s has begun a way to tap into a new market of Happy Meal lovers with Happy Meals for adults. Adult Happy Meals give a little more to the meal by offering 10 McNuggets or Big Macs.
Apparently, if you order a Big Mac at an adult Happy Meal, your Happy Meal Box will be slightly larger than your child’s Happy Meal Box. Happy His Meal special price is $8.89, but the price may change if you order a different size drink or change to a delicious McDonald’s Iced His coffee such as a Carmel Mocha.
“We’re taking one of McDonald’s most nostalgic experiences and repackaging it in a new way that is, quite literally, highly relevant to adult fans,” said Tariq, Chief Marketing and Customer Experience, McDonald’s USA. Messages on Happymeal.com say things like “Walt Disney World,” “Disney Mickey and Friends,” and “Coming Soon.”
The last collaboration between the two companies was for Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary Character Statue Collection. This year marks his 100th anniversary of The Walt Disney Company, so the collection could include an Anniversary Celebration collection.
Kids obviously enjoy playing with Disney and McDonald’s side by side, but Happy Meals are not only for kids, they’re also for collectors. I had 50 different character statues, so for the 100th anniversary of The Walt Disney Company, will I amass a collection of 100?
