Minh urges water sports operators to refrain from indulging in illegal activities

PANJIM: Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte has allayed concerns over the corporatization of water sports activities and called on all stakeholders to refrain from indulging in illegal activities.
Hante said the Goa Tourism Board had discussed the issue of water sports activities on the beach and found there was a serious problem that was difficult for the tourism industry.
He said the tourism board had written a letter to the harbor manager requesting that it not issue permits to boats for tourist activity without an NOC from the tourism board. , and was done because of a dispute between water sports operators.
According to office records, 2,149 water sports operators/activities are registered on North Goa beaches and 341 are registered on South Goa beaches, based on Goa’s Tourism and Trade Act 1982 registration. Calangute, Baga, Candolim, Anjuna, Nellu Coco Beach, Sinquerim and Sinquerim Jetty in North Goa and Colva in South Goa were crowded with water sports activities.
With increasing number of water sport operators/activities on Goa beaches, Government has decided by order dated May 9, 2022 that no new licenses/NOCs will be issued/granted to water sport operators/activities in the state .
Secondly, in order to reduce the compliance of various tourism services by simplifying the registration/renewal procedures in terms of “ease of doing business”, the government has streamlined the documents related to various tourism services. and decided to reduce Required for new registration/renewal.
According to the revised document, the Tourism Board has omitted a license/NOC from the Director of Ports and Fisheries for the registration/renewal of water sports activities on Goa’s beaches.
At a meeting held on 15 September 2022, it was decided that the first NOC should be obtained from the Tourism Board in order to streamline certain matters such as business transparency, uniformity of fees, etc. The same is true before giving the CoP Deputy Director NOC/Fitness from the CoP.
