Donald Francis Everett (88) was born on December 9, 1934 in South Bend, Indiana to James C. and Margaret M. Everett. He died in Indianapolis, Indiana on January 21, 2023. He recently moved to Carlsbad, California, where he lived for over 40 years. A Christian Burial Mass will be celebrated at Christ the King’s Church in South His Bend on January 27 and he will be buried at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park.
Don moved to the West Coast when he started working in the financial industry. When he retired from that career, he immediately began his second career as the owner of the Wild Birds Unlimited franchise. He and his younger brother Dick operated a franchise in Carlsbad until the mid-2000s.
Raised in South Bend, Don attended Central Catholic High School and the University of Notre Dame, where he took classes and remained a lifelong Irish fan. Don loved sports when he was younger, playing soccer, and enjoyed snow skiing and water sports when he was younger. Don loved golf as a spectator as well as a player. He also loves to travel and has visited Canada, Mexico, Alaska, Europe, Ireland and Hawaii.
A longtime member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Encinitas, California, Don has served in many roles as a financial and communion minister.
Don’s death preceded his parents James C. and Margaret M. Everett, brothers Richard Everett and James C. Everett (CSC.), and sister Judy Everett. Surviving family members include brother Christopher J. Everett (Deborah), sister Marsha Everett, sister Margaret Wantuck (Eugene), nephew Stephen Wantuck, niece Jennifer Wantuck Lanham (Andy), Sarah Wantuck Eckert (Joe), his nephew Jackson Lanham, and Evan Crawford. , John Eckhart, and great-niece Ava Lanham. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Hoosier His Village in Indianapolis for the kind and compassionate care they provided for their brother and uncle Don.
