Soaring high above Disney Springs is an aerophile of tethered hot air balloons. This experience allows guests to see up to 10 miles around Disney Springs on a clear day. During our balloon ride, we were able to see the entirety of Orlando’s landmarks including Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando, SeaWorld and Orlando’s Icon Park.
Aerofil costs $25 for adults and $20 for children ages 3-9. Children under the age of 2 are free of charge when sharing a room with a paying adult. A waiver must be signed for each flying adult and minors must be added to the adult waiver. After securing your ticket, move towards the balloon. They put up about 10-15 on each trip of the balloon.
We waited in line for about 30 minutes to get tickets and almost boarded the balloon. Went with my mother and daughter (age 8) and son (age 3). I could hold onto the railings while I was in the air, but I had my son in my arms for most of the trip. This was so he could see as he wasn’t tall enough to reach the opening of the net to see. . When we were at the top, we were encouraged by the pilot on board to look around. From any vantage point of the balloon, you can turn around and see all the views. It’s not a glacier or a mountain range, so I’m not sure I can call it a breathtaking view. But for Disney fans, seeing the resort from above is a unique experience.

The roughest part of the entire flight is the initial takeoff. When the balloon is in the air, it moves slightly with the wind. Again, always hold on to the handrails while flying.
I would like to say that their customer service was excellent. I had a Groupon for Aerophile that he bought in 2015 that he had never used and he accepted what the Groupon was worth for what we paid for it. I paid for my daughter’s flight because it was worth $20. It’s not that I never tried to use it. But comically every time I tried it was closed due to weather, approaching weather or high winds. My husband and I joked that I would never be able to ride because of the power he didn’t want me to have. Perhaps the visiting mother was the key I needed to experience.
Would you do it again? Probably not. Not because I didn’t like it, but because it was a one-time thing. The scenery doesn’t change much. You’ll see traffic on Interstate 4, Spaceship Earth, and various Disney attractions and resorts. If you have extra cash and want to see Disney from above. I recommend taking the Aerophile once. My mother said it was a one-time experience.
