Bay Lake, Florida – Walt Disney World welcomes thousands of runners to the resort Wednesday morning to kick off the 2023 Run Disney Marathon Weekend.
Starting Thursday morning, the event will consist of 5K, 10K, Half Marathon, Marathon and Dopey Challenge (all races). This year’s race weekend marks his 30th anniversary of the event, which offers runners the chance to run around the resort’s four theme parks and hotel areas.

“Relive decades of healthy competition with a 90s retro vibe, iconic characters and glimpses into the world. RunIt’s Disney years ago,” Disney said on its website. “2023 Walt He will be participating in an incredibly special event when he attends Disney World Marathon Weekend.”
On Wednesday morning, runners arrived at Disney’s ESPN Wide World of Sports to receive race bibs, t-shirts, and experience the Health & Fitness Expo. On the first day of the expo, Disney set up a virtual queue for attendees to use to purchase event merchandise. According to officials, the new tool will allow guests to enjoy the expo more than waiting in lines.
The race weekend is scheduled for January 4-8.
Guests of some Disney Resorts should be aware of early road closures during weekend marathon events.
