The Eurobodalla Shire Council encourages residents to be crafty this Christmas and turn someone else’s trash into treasure.
From bikes that look like new to quirky baby high chairs, the Buy Back shops at Surf Beach, Moruya and the Blow Waste Facility have all kinds of used treasures.
Council staff replenish the shop with your favorite items every day.
Casual shop attendant Nathan Cullen said he was surprised at what people were throwing away.
“We have new auto parts, new blinds, and the electronic safe is still in the package,” he said.
“There are lots of hot selling fishing rods, surfboards and building materials.”
Last week, patrons Jeff and Lynn McMahon got a trolley full of Christmas presents and free mulch for $50.

“It’s a tradition in our family to only give gifts that are recycled or made by us,” said Lynn.
Lyn loves to find tiles and materials for mosaics, and Jeff finds and upcycles odd things.
As well as bargains and interesting discoveries, spending quality time exploring the shops with loved ones is also important.

If you think some of the items you’re bringing to Chip have a second life, tell them on the weighbridge.
The Surf Beach Buy Back Shop will be closed from Monday, December 26th through Wednesday, January 4th. Visit the council website for opening hours and fees.
Expect delays at the Congressional Waste Treatment Facility due to visitors arriving over the summer holidays. Please allow yourself plenty of time, especially when visiting the Council’s busiest facility on Surf Beach.
