We received some sad Disney food news Friday evening. Trails End Restaurant at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Campground will close this spring. When it reopens later this year, it will be a “market concept with expanded quick service options” but table service will be unavailable.
A little backstory here. I wouldn’t say I love camping, but my dad loved it and he started camping in 2011 when I was a freshman in high school. Disney World. I wasn’t thrilled with this trip at all, but one of the best memories and traditions that came out of it was the Trail’s End Restaurant. Affordable for my family, the buffet has something for everyone and won my heart.
Eventually, he stopped taking his family to Disney camps and they went out to locations across the country. But that didn’t stop me from coming back here. I had his 22nd birthday in 2018 and was wondering where to eat with friends. trails end. I had a lot of fun that day.
Many fans would have chosen another place for their birthday breakfast at Disney, but we were college students who couldn’t afford a fancy meal, so this was the next best thing. Everyone was able to enjoy my birthday without breaking the bank.
I am not the only one saddened by this change. Many fans have shared their thoughts on the subject on DISboard.

This user asked a great question, “Is the demand for another fast service really enough?” Having stayed here a few times, he loved going to Trail’s End after a long day in the park. P&J’s is a takeout restaurant attached to a table service store. We only ordered from here if we needed to eat in our camper van or if we were in a hurry, not that often. Hopefully the new dining experience will be just as good. It kept me from feeling alone and provided different perspectives on this sad news.
