Lauderdale Lakes, Florida (WFLA) — According to Broward Sheriff’s Office, a Florida shoplifter encountered an unexpected obstacle after being stuck in a locked door.
Surveillance video recorded on December 7, 2022 showed a man fleeing a store in Lauderdale Lakes with a large amount of clothing.
A representative said the man entered the store at 8:15 p.m., browsed for 30 minutes, and then dashed in. However, the door was locked as it was close to closing time.
The sheriff’s office said, “When the thief tried to open the door, he wouldn’t move.” I dropped the clothes I was wearing and kicked the door forcibly.”
The employee was trying to unbolt the door for the thief to leave before he figured out how to do it himself, according to the deputy, but before he left, one of the employees to the ground, picked up the stolen clothes, and drove away in a red truck.
The sheriff’s office said the thieves stole about $200 worth of merchandise.
