In December 2021, it was announced that parking lot trams would return to all Walt Disney World theme parks in 2022. That promise was quietly rescinded last month, and since today is the last day of the year, they haven’t been kept.

In March 2020, the Walt Disney World Resort closed for an unprecedented extended closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic. When the parks reopened in the summer, streetcars in parking lots were one of many that were discontinued in favor of physical distancing. Although we advised them to arrive early to ensure space, cast members were occasionally seen offering to drive guests in need to their cars in golf carts.

However, distancing requirements were removed from attractions and other transportation in June 2021, even though Disney claimed the continued absence was for the “health and safety” of its guests. Transport mask requirements will be lifted in April 2022. Entertainment and buffet dining have been revived as Disney. Abandon COVID-era safety measures.
Hiring began in August 2021, well before the announcement that the trams would be revived.
After 644 days, the tram will return to the Transportation & Ticket Center on December 19, 2021. Disney’s Animal Kingdom continued on May 27, 2022.
Two years and nine months later, neither EPCOT nor Disney’s Hollywood Studios offer free parking trams. It’s been over a year since Disney promised a return. Even after removing the time slots from the official website, guests were hopeful when a new sign referring to the tram was installed at his EPCOT earlier this month.
We haven’t heard from Disney about new dates, but it looks like guests will be trekking at the two parks in the near future.
