When I went to Disney Springs in July, all I could think about was buying Mickey Mouse pretzels.
But my sister, a jewelry fanatic who joined me at a shopping center in Orlando, Fla., had other plans. I was led to a small booth decorated with a green signboard.
To our surprise, a stop at a jewelry stand was the highlight of our vacation.
Disney Springs and Disney World theme parks have ring carving stations.
The one I visited was across from the Earl of Sandwich restaurant on the east side of Disney Springs, but you can also find it at Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and other Disney World locations.
At the stall, I met an employee who carved rings for a group of tourists. While she worked, we were able to browse a glass case filled with the various ring options available.

When we visited, there were thin brass rings at $19, thick rings at $25, and sterling silver rings in various sizes ranging from $39 to $75 each. I had options.
Once you have selected the ring metal and size, you can then select the words or design that you would like engraved on your ring. There is an additional charge for each letter, but designs can cost $3 or more.
Don’t worry if you don’t know your ring size. The sculptor has samples for you to try on.
My custom sterling silver ring was $45 and took 15 minutes to make
My sister and I both opted for the thinnest sterling silver option, which costs $39 each. I also wanted my name engraved so I could have matching jewelry to commemorate the holiday.
Our names — Amanda and Alyssa — are both 6 letters, totaling $45 per ring.
The Ringstand employee handed me the order slip and instructed me to pay at the adjacent Disney Pin Trader shop. Afterwards, returning her receipt to the engraver, she began her work.
We were happy to wait there, or walk around, enjoy Disney Springs, and come back 15 minutes later.

When we got back both of our rings were finished – and they fit us perfectly. was.
I stayed at Disney Springs until the evening while my sister got the ring and went straight back to the hotel. During my stay alone, I spent over $60 on food, over $30 on cell phone chargers, and over $100 on souvenirs, excluding rings.
So the day after we visited Disney Springs, my sister and I were going on a Disney cruise. However, she tested positive for her COVID-19 at the port and we both of her were sent back to the airport.
So it’s no exaggeration to say that our custom jewelry was the highlight of our trip. In exchange for her three fun days at sea, we got a cheap, high-quality ring.
