As The Apprentice returns to our screens for its 17th season, the search for a business partner for Sir Alan Sugar is once again underway.
A new group of 18 candidates hope to showcase their talents and gain Lord Sugar’s approval, ultimately securing a £250,000 investment in their business. I am aiming.
Each week, competitors participate in a task designed to test their commercial skills, whether they come up with a new brand or demonstrate their ability to sell, sell, and sell.
Then, at the end of each episode, Lord Sugar must decide which candidate to send home.
Among this year’s hopefuls is Kevin Darcy, a Dublin accountant who founded the water sports company Orcaboard during lockdown and wants to secure a cash infusion from Lord Sugar.
He admits he’s “a little outspoken” and doesn’t always know “when to shut up.”
Here’s what we know about Kevin so far before he makes his apprenticeship debut.

Kevin has worked in financial services for the last 10 years and started a business in water sports equipment. He credits his “just under $500,000” in the last two years as a testament to his “commercial mindset” and “drive and determination to succeed.”
With his brands already stocked in some of Ireland’s biggest stores, next on his to-do list is expanding his operations in the UK, with Lord Sugar’s help.
“With Lord Sugar being my business partner, I know we can ride that wave into the UK and beyond,” he says.

Posting on Instagram about his latest venture, Kevin wrote: Once the paperwork is signed and the transfer is complete, he will join BBC The Apprentice on Thursday at 9pm.
“First up is Antigua. Can you win a £250,000 investment in the Orca Board?”
When does the apprenticeship start?
Lord Sugar will be back on screen soon. The first episode of The Apprentice season 17 will stream on Thursday 5th January at 9pm on his BBC One and his BBC iPlayer.
In the first installment, the new candidate will jet off to Antigua and try his hand at planning, selling and operating tours for holidaymakers. Confusion ensued when last year’s competitor had to perform a similar task in North Wales. We are confident that this venture will not disappoint.
As usual, Lord Sugar sends two of his trusted advisors to act as his eyes and ears. This time, Baroness Karen Brady and Claude Littner will be on the sidelines, sharing their findings with Boss.
Season 1 winner Tim Campbell, who made his debut as the show’s advisor last year, will also return to the series later in the run. He only appeared in two episodes.
